Medical device treats Ocular Pathologies during Vitreoretinal Surgery

10th February 2012

Retinal detachment, the separation of the retina from the underlying retinal pigment epithelium, is often a medical emergency. With approximately 3% suffering retinal detachment by the age of 85, speedy referrals and early repair can effectively treat this condition with little or no residual vision loss.

Ingeneus has developed a laser system for the treatment of retinal detachments and tears. This system is capable of intravitreal endophotocoagulation of vascular and structural abnormalities of the retina and choroid. This product has been designed as a standalone device or to be seamlessly integrated with existing vitreo-retinal surgical platforms.

Commercialisation Australia Proof of Concept funding was used in the design and development of this medical technology. This latest addition to Ingeneus’ portfolio of laser products, further showcases our experience in the ophthalmic field.
